THE BEST OF SOUTHWEST MINNEAPOLIS — brought to you by the Lynnhurst Neighborhood Association (LYNAS)
Lynnhurst Neighborhood Association (LYNAS) has been notified by Mt. Olivet Church that they are requesting a zoning variance in their new parking lot.
When updating their parking lot, based on Best Management practices of the City of Minneapolis, Mt. Olivet installed a pervious pavement on the south end in order to manage stormwater runoff into the nearby Minnehaha Creek. One of the drawbacks of the pervious pavement is that it cannot withstand heavy equipment and bus traffic. In an effort to minimize that traffic on the southern end of the lot, the church installed barriers limiting the height of the vehicle that can enter the parking lot off Logan Ave S.
The existing barrier has been determined to be 11 feet too close to the property line per the zoning code. Mt. Olivet is seeking a zoning variance to allow the barrier to remain where it is.
LYNAS has been asked to comment on this variance request. Please let us know if you have any feedback on the variance and the LYNAS Board will discuss it at their next monthly meeting on July 9th. You can register any feedback by e-mail to email@example.com. Thank you.
