THE BEST OF SOUTHWEST MINNEAPOLIS — brought to you by the Lynnhurst Neighborhood Association (LYNAS)
Based on the popularity of our previous architecture and history walking tours, we’re doing it again!
Saturday, October 5
meet at the corner of 42nd & Fremont (near Rose Gardens)
9:30 a.m.: coffee and treats
10 a.m.: leave for the tour
Mark your calendars to join for a walking tour of “Lost Lynnhurst”, the area around 42nd & Fremont that was originally platted as part of Lynnhurst, but was included as part of the East Harriet neighborhood when, years later, the city redefined neighborhood boundaries. The tour will view residences extending east from Lake Harriet and will have several contemporary accounts that reflect efforts by early residents to protect the community from influence by outsiders, from Lake Harriet bathers to city planners seeking short cuts for commercial traffic.
There will be a limit of 35 people. Please register on Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/lynnhurst-history-tour-tickets-71707473985
The tour guide, Peter Sussman, grew up around the Chain of Lakes and has been exploring the history of surrounding communities for 35 years. An architect and urban historian, he chairs the Preserve Minneapolis Summer Tour committee and enjoys leading tours which recognize all who have built up and lived in this unique city.
