THE BEST OF SOUTHWEST MINNEAPOLIS — brought to you by the Lynnhurst Neighborhood Association (LYNAS)
The Heritage Preservation Committee recently voted to consider an area of Lynnhurst and East Harriet neighborhoods for Historic District designation. The study area is bound by W. 42nd St., W. 48th St., Dupont Ave S. and East Lake Harriet Parkway.
Ward 13 Councilmember Linea Palmisano will be hosting two meetings for residents with city staff to answer questions and provide details on the process and implications of the study:
Both meetings will have the same information provided by the same staff. This meeting is not just for those in the study area, but for all who are interested.
Next steps: the City will hire a professional historical consultant to conduct the designation study. They will be researching the history of the area and taking pictures of the exterior houses. There will be opportunities to be involved and provide input as the study progresses as it is important that the community is involved during this entire process, but especially the research phase. Once the study is complete, there will be a public Heritage Preservation Committee hearing to decide whether to designate this historic district. The public will be invited to speak and provide comment at the hearing.
